Additionally on the same night Golden Boy boxer Sugar Shane Mosley knocked out Antonio Margarito via TKO in the ninth round winning the WBA title.

Attendance figures for Affliction were announced by Tom Atencio as being 13,288, PPV buys have yet to be announced

Oscar De La Hoya chose to attend Affliction DOR instead of the Mosley Margarito boxing event and was critisized live on HBO immediatly prior to the main event by boxing icon Larry Merchant. Merchant claimed that the Golden Boy was paid 5 million by the fledging MMA promotion to attend their event however according to relevent sources this is a complete fabrication.

A total of 4.6 million was given in salaries according to MMAWEEKLY to all fighting participants from Affliction DOR.

Gegard Mousasi and Fabricio Werdum are pretty much locked to be a part of the next Affliction card; Tom Atencio confirmed to FIVEOUNCSOFPAIN.com that there will infact be a third installment of Affliction MMA some time in May or June.

Showtime Promos and More.



Showtime has previews up for the numerous Affliction bouts taking place January 24th, 2009. They are very well produced.

Additionally Affliction has announced that additional seating has been opened up for the event. Tom Atencio denied poor ticket sales emphasizing that that he is very pleased with sales thus far and that they are at par with BANNED at this stage.

Former EliteXC star Bao Quach (15-8) replaces Mark Hominick. Quach will fight former IFL standout LC Davis (12-1).

Affliction News Update

Gegard Mousasi who recently won his kickboxing debut against K-1 veteren Musashi at K-1 Fields Dynamite told 'Inside MMA' that he will be in attendance at Affliction Day of Reckoning and will be scoping out his next MMA opponent. He expects to fight at the next Affliction PPV. He additionally expressed his interest in boxing for Golden Boy thus joining the likes of Andrei Arlovski, Thierry Sokoudjou and Vitor Belfort from Affliction who are interested in the crossover.

Also making his appearance at the Affliction DOR PPV will be former UFC HW contender and top 10 ranked Fabricio Werdum. According to his interview with GRACIEMAG Werdum has been sporting Affliction gear and will be sitting front row January 24th.

Alistair Overeem told DreamFighters.com that his management team is currently negotiating with Affliction and the UFC.

Mark Hominick has been forced to withdraw from his fight at Affliction "Day of Reckoning" due to pneumonia. Hominick, the final TKO featherweight champ, was scheduled to face LC Davis on the undercard of the Jan. 24th event. Affliction will find a new opponent for Davis.
